After Attacks On Police, National Police Union (NAPO) Switches Support From Biden to Trump
Switching from what has been automatic support for Democrats in the past, the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) endorsed President Donald Trump for president on Wednesday, abandoning their previous support of former Vice President Joe Biden.
“Our endorsement recognizes your steadfast and very public support for our men and woman on the front lines, especially during this time of unfair and inaccurate opprobrium being directed at our members by so many,” the letter from NAPO President Michael McHale read.
In the past, the NAPO has endorsed Democrats, but after seeing the constant attacks, calls for defunding by the left today said there is no way they can support a Democrat ticket.
NAPO represents more than 1,000 police associations and 241,000 sworn officers.
The letter gave credit to the Justice Department under Trump for prosecuting individuals attacking police officers while Democrats have been going out of their way to protect them. They also spoke of the Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act, plus the 9/11 first responders fund’s support as additional reasons for their support.
The Trump campaign welcomed the news in a statement:
“Joe Biden has done nothing to stop his party’s ‘defund the police’ movement and remains silent as police officers across the country are being attacked by violent rioters and protesters,” Trump 2020 Senior Advisor for Law Enforcement and Labor Unions Bob Paduchik said in a statement. “This endorsement for President Trump highlights that as the Law and Order President, he is defending the hardworking people who risk their own lives every day to keep our communities safe.”
We are going to see more and more of this, as the left shifts further to the extreme left, defunding or disbanding police, attacking institutions that support law and order, people are going to see this is a threat to their safety, even if they may agree with some of what else is put out by the left.
Cities like St. Louis that arrest people for daring to support their homes, Seattle, where the leader gives up part of their cities to radical actors, then blame the police for lack of control where they are not allowed to visit.
The left is starting to see this; some are beginning to send out calls of warnings that with radicals taking over their party, they could see a shift from the center towards Trump. Further, many who are unwilling to admit that they will vote for Trump openly will do this in rejection for what the party stands for now.
