AOC – Ivanka Trump is not a ‘qualified diplomat’
Rep. Alexandria (AOC) in a tweet, D-N.Y., criticized the White House on Saturday night after a video emerged of an awkward Ivanka Trump moment at the G-20 summit.
“It may be shocking to some, but being someone’s daughter isn’t a career qualification,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote, saying the situation hurt the U.S. diplomatic standing in the world.
“The US needs our President working the G20,” she added. “Bringing a qualified diplomat couldn’t hurt either.”
Ocasio-Cortez, or OAC, was reacting to a video, posted by BBC journalist Parham Ghobadi, which he claimed that Ivanka, a senior adviser to President Trump, trying to “get involved” in a conversation with several world leaders: French President Emmanuel Macron, UK’s Prime Minister Theresa May, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and International Monetary Fund Chairwoman Christian Lagarde.
It should be stated the audio showed little; the three were having a conversation about females growing in numbers in the international military arena. What you have is a 19-second tape, this is where the narrative is coming from.
The encounter drew widespread mockery online.
It could be argued that showing a 19-second clip is hardly enough to show how the whole conversation went.
President Trump also attended the same G-20 summit, in Osaka, Japan, then moved on to South Korea, where he met at the DMZ North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
AOC, a rising star within the Democrat party, and a freshman lawmaker has generated endless headlines by tweeting attacks against both her critics and President Trump’s administration.
She has in the past called out the first daughter for her criticism of AOC’s idea of a guaranteed job. Also, she had attacked other members of the Trump family when they questioned her concept of the Green New Deal.
