Barney Frank Tries to Get Liz Cheney To Run As A Independent.
Written by Timothy Benton
In a move that should surprise no one, with how Liz Cheney has turned on the GOP, Trump, and anyone who dares to support him, the Democrats have turned out to be huge fans of her, just like her counterpart Congressman Kinzinger. The Democrats, not wanting to lose this ally in their quest to destroy Trump, are trying to push her to run as an independent, saying the Democrats would support her because she has no chance of winning even in the primaries as a Republican.
To be clear, he’s not recommending that she become a Democrat. Cheney wouldn’t do that since her policy preferences are almost totally misaligned with the other party. She’s anti-coup and pro-gay-marriage (belatedly), and that’s about where the common ground ends. Frank wants Cheney to retain her conservative Republican identity but bypass the primary by declaring herself nominally an independent. And then he wants the Democratic Party in Wyoming to field no candidate in the general election since any nominee would be destined to be crushed anyway. Under those circumstances, the state’s small Democratic minority would gravitate towards Cheney. Could she get to 51 percent against Trump-backed Harriet Hageman with unanimous Democratic support plus a rump faction of anti-Trump and/or centrist Republicans?
The problem with this is that most anti-Trump GOP Rhinos are either retiring or dropping out because they know there is little chance they can win any election. The Democrats know their time to find something/anything on Trump is running out; they are already complaining that all investigations into him will be dropped if the GOP wins the election. This is the problem with the GOP and one that I have been harping on for a while. The DNC thinks they have the right to pull every trick to get their way, the constitutionality or legality of their actions; they feel that their actions are justified so long as the ends are met. The GOP then does nothing, says they have to show they are above this.
When I was younger, I learned the hard way to stop someone from bullying you by being nice; acting like you are above retaliating will not get you anyplace. Such actions only encourage the bully to do what he/she is doing more. But you turn around and smack them, they will think twice about acting in such a manner again.
I would rather have everything done in a civilized manner, but the only way Democrats will learn there are consequences to their actions is to do something to punish them. I ran into this with a young man in college, who got in my face and threatened me over a political difference; I told him to back up, he didn’t, so I got in his face told him he had a right to disagree; if he continued to push and attack me, I would knock him on his butt, when he tried to push me again, I did exactly that.
I do not like violence, but if you do nothing when bullies commit violence against you, they have no fear of consequences. It is the same way with politicians; if the Left feels they are justified in trying to impeach and remove an elected leader just because they don’t like him, then do the same with the Democrat leaders in office now. When I was in the military, I remember an instructor telling m that there was a time for peace and war; wisdom dictates when it is time for each.
Liz Cheney and others, their hatred for all things Trump sides with the Democrats, so they use them as useful fools, but should we allow this? The best message we can send is not to attack them physically but to do so through the votes, make sure the message is sent out, you represent us, not your interests.
I think the thing that angers me the most is that these same people try to justify their actions by acting like they somehow are taking the high moral road. I don’t care about their road; one should care what their constituents want. These two are done, and the DNC is so desperate to use them because they know they are damaged goods; they want to pull their pound of flesh from them while they can.
