Biden Tells Israel He Is Shutting Down Jerusalem Embassy, There Is One Rather Large Problem

President Joe Biden is expected to reopen the U.S. consulate in Jerusalem in a reversal of a decision by former President Donald Trump.

When the Trump administration moved the U.S. Embassy in 2019 from Tel Aviv to Israel’s capital city of Jerusalem, the consulate was merged with the new embassy — a move that led to worsening ties with the Palestinian Authority, NPR reported at the time.

However, according to a Wednesday report by Axios, the Biden administration has its eyes set on overturning the decision made by the Trump administration, despite Israeli objections.

But there is one rather large problem that Biden will be facing, and most likely will derail any such move, that would be the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995.

It was this act that Trump used to move the embassy, instead of signing a 6-month extension (something Clinton, Bush, and Obama did during their terms in office), which was stipulated under the act, Trump moved the embassy to Jerusalem, as ordered by the act, thus setting up a huge problem for Biden.

No place in the act stipulates once it is put in place that Biden has the legal authority to reverse the act, by trying to do this, Biden will most likely face court challenges, challenges that the Biden Administration, along with the State Department, will be hard-pressed to overcome without a vote of support from the US Senate.

Unlike Trump, Biden supports the creation of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel.

“There will be a significant statement about the intention to pursue a two-state solution,” said Jeremy Ben-Ami, president of J Street, a pro-Israel advocacy organization in Washington and informal advisor to the campaign. “Those signals will be sent early.”

Here shows the inconsistency of the Biden doctrine; it’s a return to the same doctrine the US has followed since 1973, where nothing but roadblocks and violence followed. While Trump’s policies were off the beaten path, they did result in three Arab nations signing accords with Israel, something no president has done before.

Several Israeli officials criticized Biden’s plans.

“We think it’s a bad idea,” Israel’s foreign minister, Yair Lapid, told journalists on Sept. 1, according to The Guardian.

“Jerusalem is the sovereign capital of Israel and Israel alone, and therefore we don’t think it’s a good idea.”

“We know that the [Biden] administration has a different way of looking at this, but since it is happening in Israel, we are sure they are listening to us very carefully,” Lapid said.

“Jerusalem is the capital of one country only: Israel. I don’t want to go into details, but this is my clear position,” Bennett told the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations on Friday through a Zoom video conference.

Between the lines: Several right-wing ministers, including Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked and Justice Minister Gideon Sa’ar, said the consulate’s reopening would infringe on Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem. It’s also a prime point of attack for Benjamin Netanyahu, who is now an opposition leader.

  • The Israeli government would have to give its approval for the consulate to be reopened. And if even one member were to defect over the issue, the government could collapse.
  • “If the Biden administration wants to see Netanyahu abandoning his Pilates classes and going back to the Prime Minister’s Office, this is the best way to do it,” one senior official quipped to me.
  • The official said the Israelis had expressed their concerns about the destabilizing potential of the consulate issue several times to the Biden administration.
  • The Biden administration previously agreed to delay the reopening of the consulate until after the Nov. 4 deadline for Bennett to pass a budget.

What they’re saying: “Jerusalem is the capital of one country only: Israel. I don’t want to go into details, but this is my clear position,” Bennett said last Friday in a Zoom call with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

  • But Bennett added that he wants a “no drama” relationship with the Biden administration and to solve things in the quietest way possible after the budget passes in November.
  • The Palestinian Authority Foreign Ministry said the government’s opposition over the consulate was a barrier to the peace process and part of Israel’s efforts “to change the historical and legal status of the city.”
  • Last week, State Department spokesperson Ned Price stressed that Blinken’s commitment, made in May during a visit to Israel and the Palestinian Authority, still stands. The White House declined to comment for this story.

The Democrats were overjoyed to see both Bibi and Trump be voted out of office; such a move will most likely pave a path for both to ride back into power. It seems Biden is incapable of doing anything but harming his legacy and destroying the DNC’s support within America.

We at 0censor predict that any such move will have massive repercussions against Biden and Jewish support. Further, we expect a legal challenge to Biden’s ability to overturn US law, one done with bipartisan support when it passed.

  1. CAUGHT

With about 75% of Jews perpetually stupid enough to keep voting for their own destruction, they will undoubtedly support Biden, or just whine a little bit before they submit, like they submitted to Hitler. Later their useful idiocy will turn them into useless idiots, and the American left will have submitted to the Chinese Communists, Muslim terrorists and anyone else they sell out to. The Jews who live in America will be once again be used for body parts or ashes.

Since I, the author, am both Jewish and American, I would say many of us would strongly disagree with you. Sadly, you are right about many within the Jewish left, but not all of us blindly support the demofascist part of America, and they are losing more and more every day.
