Chicago Unmasks Its Adults and Also Its Senselessness, as We Leave the Children Behind

If you’re in Chicago, you’ve surely heard the news: The mask mandate is over at the end of the month.

However, the city’s sticking to its guns where select senselessness is concerned.

On Tuesday, Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced the forced covering of faces would soon be eliminated in most areas. Additionally, proof of vaccination in environments such as bars and restaurants will no longer be required.

Earlier in the month, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker said mandated masking would take a dive if COVID cases continued to do the same.

On Monday, Cook County — the nation’s second-most populous county and for which Chicago is the county seat — indicated it would do the same.

Even so, Mayor Lori’s not above sending the citizenry back to surgical attire.

From the Chicago Tribune,

Lightfoot said she will “not hesitate” to impose new rules and mandates to protect public health in the future but said her goal is to never “shut down our economy again.”

Here’s more:

Lightfoot’s announcement was widely expected. The city had said lifting the mandate will require three out of four COVID-19 metrics to fall to the lowest or second-lowest category of risk — and remain there for two consecutive weeks.

City officials later said, however, that they would consider going forward with dropping the mandate even if they hadn’t hit those totals to avoid confusion for residents.

That’s all well and good, but don’t assume the sanest heads have prevailed.

As a reminder, before a vaccine was available, the CDC calculated COVID’s survivability:

  • 0-19 years: 99.99997
  • 20-49 years: 99.9998
  • 50-69 years: 99.995
  • 70+ years: 99.946

And last September, the Centers for Disease Control published its Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.

Courtesy of my coverage at the time:

Over the yearlong span, there were a total of eight “COVID-19-related” deaths among…1,790 minors.

That constitutes a 0.4% death rate among those admitted.

We frequently hear the phrase “Follow the Science.” The best I can tell, accompanying edicts often involve following no science as none will be provided. Furthermore, we may be asked to ignore any science contrary in such instances.

Back to the Tribune, there’s a caveat in Chicago:

Under the statewide and newly announced city rules, face coverings will still be required in schools, health care settings and public transportation.

Are we Following the Science™?

Most of America is doubtlessly desperate to move beyond the pandemic. Why are we leaving the children behind amid our migration in some areas?

It’s been reported that unvaccinated kids are less vulnerable than vaccinated adults.

And they’re the most in need of seeing and showing their faces. It’s critical to their social and emotional development.

Moreover, during youth, two years is an eternity — and an extremely important span of time.

No matter, for now, children in Chicago will have to stay masked. Likewise, actual science, perhaps, won’t yet be allowed to show its face.

Notes from the Editor

At my son’s school, they are taking away mask requirements this coming Monday, we are told this is a great thing, but I must ask, why were they forced to wear them? The statistics show that a child is more likely to die from influenza than Covid, yet we don’t require children to mask that.

When I brought this up at a school board meeting, I was informed that I should not question this; after all, my wife had passed away due to Covid. I told them that should give me the right more than anyone, I know what it can do, but statistics do not lie; they show that masking does little in the way of helping children, so why are we restricting them? I was told it was for the sake of the teachers; this was not that hard to solve, have the teachers mask up, leave the children be.

I want to clarify that my wife did not die due to Covid; she had many medical issues before she caught Covid. It did not matter if she was immunized, with chronic heart issues, severe diabetes, was overweight, had to use an oxygen generator, she died due to this, Covid just pushed her over the edge. Yet we are not told this; we are told that Covid killed these people, but that was not the case. They were like a boat loaded until the waterline was right to the top; Covid was like a big stone – drop it in the boat, water starts pouring in, it sinks.

I think this was an emergent threat that the powers took as a reason to test us, to see how we would react and how much of our liberty we would be willing to hand to them when we were in a state of fear. We failed; there is no other way to state this. In fear, citizens were willing to lose their liberty to move as they pleased, be placed under house arrest, and allow the government to censor free-speech and silence it while colluding with Big Tech.

We now see reactions starting to rise from this, where parents are protesting and calling out school board members, truckers are saying this is enough, and starting protests across Canada, now starting in the US. Having rejected the narrative, others refused to get vaccinated (we are not advocating to do this, but we 100% support one’s right to make such a decision). People who have thrown off the yolk of the masks said, “Enough, it is my life, my choice, I, not the government,t will make choices of what is best for me!”

While we did fail, the freedom that rings in the heart of America is starting to stir up the patriots; they are beginning to say no more, we are the land of the free and the brave, not the pathetic and the weak.
