Holder Exposes Own Hypocrisy While Trying To Call Out Barr
Eric Holder, the self-described wingman of Obama and the corruption his policies brought forth, is now trying to call out Barr, claiming that the Justice Department is more politicized now then it has ever been. He is now aiming to lead the fight to put in place term limits of 18 years in the court, hoping to relieve the pressure caused by Trump‘s two appointees so far and hoping to alleviate soon justices who were appointed by Republicans, to remove them to have more pliable judges in place.
The reason for this is understandable, to date Trump has appointed 2 Supreme Court Justices, thus tipping the scale of the court, he has, also had another 192 federal judges, 52 justices appointed to the powerful court of appeals, in some cases changing the whole complexity of the appeal courts to be less activist and more ruling along the lines of the constitution.
Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, while claiming to be cancer-free, has a host of medical problems that put in doubt her time to continue to serve, and adding salt to the wound McConnel has declared that he will push forward to have any vacancy replaced during this off-year.
We also have to remember, Justice Clarence Thomas, Justice Stephen Breyer, and Ginsburg are all in their 80s, thus health or end of life could ensure a further change in the courts. This could bring about the question of if suffering ill health, where people like Ginsburg are barely able to perform their jobs for long periods of time, should there be a mechanism to remove them?
If we thought things turned into a circus in the Kavanaugh hearings if Trump wins a second term, and we see Ginsburg being replaced, or worse for the Democrats, Ginsburg and Breyer, maybe Thomas as well, you would see the courts tip by another two justices leaning towards the right. This would give the high court a 7 – 2 split, would stop any use the left has traditionally had with the courts to push through their agenda which couldn’t be moved by vote. To this extent, the Democrats would try to pull out things we have not even thought of yet to try and stop such a move.
To try to counter that along comes Holder, who earlier had teamed up with Obama in trying to undo Gerrymanding cases, many times where the GOP controlled areas had put back voting lines where they were before them being changed by Democrats, this attempt to undo this was halted by the Supreme Court.
He is now switching to try to put in place term limits on justices, to limit the length that someone like Trump’s picks can affect the courts, one finds it interesting that this was never an issue with him when Obama was in office.
Holder is continuing the activism he had done before being appointed as Attorney General, now is trying to undo what Trump is doing, not by the voters, that has never been his way, instead is trying to run to the deep state and have them implement his goals.
This is the same man who last year embraced the idea of increasing the size of the Supreme Court through legislation and then appointing liberal justices to dilute the impact of conservative voices on the high court. Such a move, like implementing term limits for the Supreme Court, would not require a constitutional amendment because the Constitution affords Congress control over the structuring of the federal judiciary.
“Given the Merrick Garland situation, the question of legitimacy is one that I think we should talk about,” Holder said at the time. “We should be talking even about expanding the number of people who serve on the Supreme Court if there is a Democratic president and a Congress that would do that.”
Roosevelt tried this in the past when he could not get the courts to bend to his will, FDR lost this attempt to pack the courts, even members of his party rejected this due to how it could affect them in the future.
What we are seeing is what seems to be the M.O. of the left, they don’t try to get things done by bringing their ideas to us, they give little thought to we the people, instead, go through activist courts or ask Congress to try to make moves that will aid the Democrats, all while screaming how politicized everything is.
We need to remember; this is the same Holder who has long pre-emptively warned that Republicans will “cheat” in the 2020 elections and suggested that unconventional counterattacks may be necessary. This is interesting considering there was no cheating by the GOP in 2016, but there was plenty of this going on in Democratic strongholds. As usual, the left is once more accusing the other side of doing what they have always done.
Holder and Obama politicized the Justice Department, the intel agencies, and the foreign service. Yet, now Holder is coming out and trying to lecture others of doing what he did so wonderfully. The courts that were heavily politicized by Obama have nonstopped tried to legislate from the Bench, something that seems to be slowing down as Trump is placing more and more judges on the Bench that aren’t activist.
The problem is not the politicization that Holder is blaming Trump for; instead, it is the continued peeling away of layers of this that were already in place by Holder, Obama, and later Loretta Lynch. The fear from the left is that Trump may do what they have done; this is why they start now pointing fingers. The sad thing is that they never see their hypocrisy, how they are doing the same thing they are blaming others for.
