Pelosi, It Is Time For You And Democrats To Own The Shutdown

We have heard that Trump is the one responsible for the shut down, but is he? A negotiation means that two sides come together and compromises, both sides get something of what they want, but not all. This is not what Pelosi and the Democrats are doing.

We have heard demands that Trump opens up the government, trust Pelosi, Schumer, and the Democrats to negotiate in good faith, but when asked Pelosi insists that nothing will be given to the wall, but demands that Trump trust her. What you have here is a one-sided negotiation where one side thinks they hold all the power, the other side none.

Just 13 days ago, in the polling then 47% found Trump responsible for the shutdown, and 33% blamed the DNC, in the latest polls we see the people opposed to the wall are dropping and the ones blaming Democrats for the shutdown is rising. This is something Pelosi and the Democrats will be watching, if the polling slips more, they will feel pressure to act.

What we do see is a polarizing of the positions from the GOP and DNC, you see the sides either rising dramatically or falling, but the difference here are the independents, they are starting to swing towards support, if these numbers start to climb anymore the left will have problems.

GOP support for expanding border wall rises; Democratic support falls

Hopefully, this trend will continue, the left will then find themselves in a position where they will have little choice but to negotiate, but I personally think long before it comes to this Trump should declare an emergency, pass a spending bill and go ahead and build his wall without Congress.

Pelosi can blame this on Trump, but in the end it is she who is demanding that nothing be given but they recieve all they demand, that is not how negotiations work.
