The cry Of The Children In Yemen

The cry Of The Children In Yemen

Too many times, we see wars; they are none personal, detached, have little meaning for us other than the photos we are looking at. The problem comes with realizing that despite what the adults are fighting over, it always seems to be the children that suffer.

Many of us have heard the story of Yemen, the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iranian sponsored Houthi’s, but what is rarely spoken of are the innocents, the ones that always seem to suffer the most.

With tens of thousands displaced, an ongoing civil war, children are seen as collateral damage, not something we should protect, regardless of cost. Sadly, this is all too common in that area of the world; children are the last ones thought of in a conflict and are often used as human shields, thus tearing up their lives and leaving them traumatized by what they have witnessed.

To get an idea of what is going on there, 0censor has had communications with a UN aid worker within their UNHCR who has been helping with the civilians that have nothing to do with the war, also is taking time to administer to the children, help them out as they try to find ways to heal the scars from within.

It is important to condemn when it is warranted, but also equally important to acknowledge good when it is being done.

While I have never hidden my disdain for the UN and their handling of affairs with the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, we have to admit as badly as they have messed up things there, they have done much good in other places around the world.

This is one of the cases, where regardless of your political ideology, one must admit that the good being done to aid the innocent is something great to behold.

So what does the UNHCR provide for the people?

They work with refugees providing housing, a safe place to settle in until they can return home. There is also medical aid that, in some cases, is the first time many of these refugees have had any medical attention in years.

They also provide work, the ability to make products, move them on a international market to aid in their making money.

But most importantly, they provide a place of safety where children are protected, cared for, allowed to play, and are basically children. The people working with this program often take time out of their busy schedules to play and watch over these little ones.

One of them is a great friend of mine, love her heart, the way she is doing this work unselfishly, working as a doctor to aid in this time of need, and in her free time is helping the children find the care-free time they so desperately need, time to play.

She had done much to expose me to the plight of the children there; now, I would love to share a little of this with you and see what we can do, as caring humans, to help these children find joy and carefree experience all had as children.

With her own money has set up Xbox and PlayStations for the children to play with, she takes time off of her very busy schedule, making sure the children are watched over and have time to be free in their play.

We in 0censor think this is a worthy cause, as such we are helping set up to help these children, the adults already seem to have the help they need by the UN but will add links in the end if you wish to help the UN as well.
