Why Is McCarthy Virtue Signaling And Saying No Impeachment If The GOP Takes Congress?

Is there a divide among the GOP on dealing with President Biden if they take control of the House and Senate after this year’s election? We seem to have two sides: one is calling for impeachment, says the Democrats started this, they should carry this on, the other side says they will not rush forward for such a thing; two wrongs do not make a right.

The senator, like McCarthy, pointed out that under former President Donald Trump, Democrats “weaponized impeachment.” He said:

During a conversation with Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo, McCarthy declared House Republicans would hold the Biden administration “accountable.” If the slew of investigations they plan to launch turns into something actionable, they could impeach. However, he was hesitant to support such an initiative fully. He said, “One thing we learned that the Democrats did is they – they used impeachment for political reasons.”

“We believe in the rule of law,” McCarthy continued. “We’re not going to pick and choose just because somebody has power. We’re going to uphold the law. At any time, if someone breaks the law and the ramification becomes impeachment, we would move towards that. But we’re not going to use it for political purposes.”

It turns out that with many in Congress, that is not acceptable, and there is a good reason for this; why should the Democrats be able to use this as a political tool and not the GOP. This is what was asked by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX):

“They used it for partisan purposes to go after Trump because they disagreed with him. One of the real disadvantages of doing that is the more you weaponize it and turn it into a partisan cudgel, you know, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.”

On his podcast, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) speculated that “there’s a chance” Republicans will begin impeachment proceedings when they retake the house in the upcoming congressional elections. “If we take the House, which I said is overwhelmingly likely, then I think we will see serious investigations of the Biden administration,” he said.

The problem many of us have is that using impeachment as a political tool was opened up by the Democrats, are we expected to not act on this yet face this every time the Democrats take power? Sometimes the best way to deal with a bully is to dish out at them exactly what they have been doing to you.

The lawmaker then promised that House GOP would “take the facts to wherever the facts go because America’s been through too much with people playing politics with the concept of impeachment.”

McCarthy is riding the fence on this one. He is not backing the impeachment idea, but he has not fully closed the door on it either. One would almost think he’s a politician or something.

Cruz, thankfully, is having none of it. Cruz also speculated that there could be “multiple grounds to consider for impeachment” and pointed out that the White House’s abysmal handling of the border crisis might be the strongest case Republicans could make. He said:

“Probably the most compelling is the utter lawlessness of President Biden’s refusal to enforce the border. His decision to just defy federal immigration laws and allow 2 million people to come here unimpeded in direct contravention of his obligation under Article Two of the Constitution to take care that the laws be faithfully executed.”

He continued: “That is probably the strongest grounds right now for impeachment, but there may be others. Because the Democrats decided this is just another tool in the partisan war chest, I think there is a real risk that this turnabout will be fair play.”

I’m going to be blunt: McCarthy is dead wrong.

Many are now saying the problem with a Biden impeachment is he has such an awful VP behind him, we would have to hand the reigns to her, but I ask, “Why?” She has not carried out her duties concerning the border and has shown the utter refusal to deal with it, so why not do a double impeachment?

We could drive the Liberals to the point of insanity; if the GOP takes the house, they could bring in Trump as Speaker of the House, this means a double impeachment would put him back as president, and since he will have had served for less then two years, he can run again for office in 2024.

I am not sure I want to play with our democracy to this point, but the irony of such a move would indeed drive the Left to desperation.
